COMMUNITY concerns over speeding in the Alvechurch area are being dealt with by police officers with speed guns.

Officers from Alvechurch and Wythall Safer Neighbourhood Team linked up with special constables from West Mercia Police on Wednesday, September 13, to tackle the issue.

The team patrolled areas in Alvechurch and Wythall and caught two drivers speeding on the 30mph Redditch Road within the first 45 minutes.

An SNT spokesman said: "At the moment we are on the Redditch Road, Alvechurch, then we are moving to Weatheroak Hill. After lunch we're in Wythall.

"It has helped. Within 45 mins we've had two at 41 and 43 mph. There's been approximately 100 cars gone through."

In Hollywood, on Hollywood Lane, a driver was caught racing through at 52mph in a 30mph zone, with police tweeting he will be "off to court".

Police also issued caution to drivers on Weatheroak Hill, where horse riders reported vehicles were passing too quickly.

A spokesman added: "Pass slow when you overtake horses."
