A KIDDERMINSTER pub gave real enthusiasts a real taste for the summer to earn a coveted award.

Wyre Forest Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) named The King & Castle at Severn Valley Railway as their Pub of the Summer for 2018.

CAMRA said the venue’s selection of eight real ales and three real ciders, along with its covered station concourse giving people much needed shade from the burning sun, made The King & Castle a major hit during the summer months.

And Wyre Forest branch members who visited the pub gave consistently high scores across the whole selection of drinks offered.

Their scores help other members and the public identify where their best rated beers are to be found.

Nick Yarwood, chair of Wyre Forest CAMRA, said: “The bar team did a great job of welcoming visitors to Kidderminster and the railway, and that all adds colour and joy to the experience.

“Competition for the summer award was hot, and Branch members decided this one had the edge. Well done to all of The King & Castle team.”
