A LONG-running Wyre Forest covers band will celebrate 25 years of gigging with a special charity show in Kidderminster.

The six-piece band Blind Lemon will headline a Glitz and Glamour Night at the Town Hall on October 19, organised by fundraiser Julie Hardiman, in support of Children with Cancer UK.

The group played their first-ever gig at the former Corn Exchange pub on New Road, and have since performed at festivals, charity fundraisers, weddings and have recently shared a stage with 80s bands ABC, and Go West as well as singers Tony Hadley and Kim Wilde on a week-long music cruise.

The band includes singer Mark Pearsall, lead guitarist Nick McCarthy, drummer Danny Koisser, saxophonist Kim Pickering, bassist Richard Morgan and Andrew Stelmasiak on keyboards.

Blind Lemon will complete their anniversary year with a New Year's Eve gig at The Wharf in Stourport.

Lead guitarist Nick McCarthy said: “We feel it’s an incredible achievement not only to reach this milestone, but also remain the best of friends.

We really enjoy what we do on stage and fans seem to like the way we put our own special stamp on songs.”

Tickets for the Glitz and Glamour Night, which features support from band The Underdogs, cost £10 and are available from the Town Hall.
