A WYRE Forest yoga teacher dropped in to a local football team’s training session for a special Halloween class.

Sandra Gorlero-Barnes held the 45-minute class with the youngsters and coaches from Kidderminster Hawks under 9s as part of the team’s midweek training.

Dressed in their finest Halloween costumes, the children were taught how to control their balance and breathing, stretch their muscles and educated more about the benefits of yoga for long-term health and wellbeing.

Jon Maskell, manager of Kidderminster Hawks under 9s, said: “We always have a fun training session around Halloween where the kids dress up, but it made it extra special having Sandra come down to do a yoga class with the boys.

"They all loved trying something a bit different which will benefit them with their balance, breathing and help them learn how to stretch the muscles properly. She has an amazing reputation around the area and to give up her time to help the children was extremely kind.”

Sandra added: “I love getting kids involved in yoga and hopefully they will all carry on using the little hints and tips they’ve learned as they carry on developing their football. With so many different Halloween costumes on show, it was certainly different to my normal classes which I give around the Wyre Forest.

"Seriously though, a massive thanks to Jon and the coaches for inviting me along. It’s great to see youth football coaches trying different things.”

Kidderminster Athletic Hawks under 9s play in the Stourport and District League but its squad of 11 also travel across different parts of the UK to play in tournaments.

Sandra runs weekly classes across Wyre Forest along with her daughter Sofia. They also organise yoga retreats and holidays in the UK and overseas. Anyone interested in contacting Sandra can email at Sandra.sofia.yoga@gmail.com
