HOMELESS people in Redditch are being offered emergency accomodation tonight as temperatures are set to drop.
It comes after the Severe weather emergency protocol (SWEP) has been activated.
SWEP, operated by CCP on behalf of Redditch Borough Council, provides emergency shelter for rough sleepers on any night that the weather turns freezing from now until the end of March.
It comes after reports a rough sleeper was found dead in Malvern over the festive period.
The death of the man, named locally as Joby Sparrey, caused shock, anger and sadness among the people of the town.
Flowers and messages were left outside Brays in Worcester Road, Malvern near where his body was found while others have left tributes online.
It was the second death of a rough sleeper in the town in the last two months following that of Remigiusz Boczarski who had been living in a bus shelter in Wells Road.
He is believed to have taken his own life in October last year.
Emergency accommodation will be provided at the Salvation Army building on Ipsley Street.
Doors open at 9.30pm.
