RESIDENTS, councillors, mayors and the district MP will gather outside St Mary's and All Saints' Church in Kidderminster on Sunday (January 27) to commemorate the Holocaust.

The chairs of Worcestershire County and Wyre Forest District Councils will join the Mayors of Kidderminster, Stourport and Bewdley at the Holocaust memorial stone.

Holocaust Memorial Day is the national remembrance day to honour the millions of people murdered in the Holocaust under Nazi persecution, and in the genocides which followed in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia, and Darfur.

Wyre Forest Council's chief executive will read the Holocaust Statement of Commitment and MP Mark Garnier will also be delivering a speech.

Prayers will be led by the Vicar of St Mary's, representatives of the Trinity Methodist Church, St Ambrose Church, Our Lady of Ostra Brama Polish Catholic Church, and the Jewish community.

Members of the Mike Oborski Polish Saturday School will be present as well as standard bearers from various Wyre Forest ex-service associations.

All members of the community are invited to attend and bring a flower to lay at the memorial if they wish.
