AN award-winning group will bring the story of Christ's crucifixion to Bewdley in a returning Easter programme.

Music Director Jim Ineson and Stage Director Steve Conway have collaborated once again to create a reproduction of the most important event in the Christian calendar.

The Bewdley Passion Play will take place in the Jubilee Gardens on Good Friday, (April 19), starting at 2pm.

Stage Director Steve Conway said: "As the past couple of Bewdley Passion events have been music-based, we decided this year to return to our roots, concentrating on the spoken word but adding a modern twist.

"The story will be based around a Television Newsroom, and Lizzie Lane, from BBC Hereford and Worcester, will join our cast as a Jerusalem-based roving reporter.

"Lizzie has worked very closely with previous Bewdley Passion productions and I am delighted that she has agreed to take a role.

"I am also very pleased that local actor Stuart Wishart will once again bring his brilliant portrayal of Christ to the production.”

Continuing the modern theme, news reports from around Jerusalem will be screened on large monitors, and the audience can also view the action on their mobile phones or tablets via wifi.
