A MAN had his prized dreadlocks chopped off to raise money for the hospice which supported his mum’s best friend.

Sean Price, from Lickey End, said goodbye to his long dreadlocks which he had been lovingly growing for the last two years.

The 27-year-old, who owns Phoenix Laser Removal, has been sponsored for the haircut and has so far raised £230 for Primrose Hospice.

Four-year-old son Chase cut of the first lock and has been proudly showing everyone his dad’s old dreads ever since.

Mr Price said: “My mum’s friend Rachel was cared for by Primrose Hospice and I wanted to do something to help and to give something back.

“I’ve been growing my dreadlocks for about two years now so I decided to hold a fundraiser and have the cut off.

“It is really strange not to have them anymore – it was quite emotional and my partner was a bit upset too.

“People don’t recognise me anymore. There’s been a few times where people have just walked past me in the street and blanked me.”

Anna Wilson, community fundraiser for Primrose Hospice, said: “Sean looks like a totally different person without his dreadlocks.

“We are so grateful to him for taking the plunge and having his haircut to raise for Primrose, especially as he had been growing it for so long.
