ALCESTER Councillor Gill Forman has been elected mayor of Alcester and Councillor Kathryn Cargill has been elected deputy mayor.

Gill has lived in Alcester most of her life, is married to Tim and has three daughters and two grandsons.

She was first elected to the Town Council in 2015.

Gill said: “I am proud and delighted to have been elected as Mayor and I am looking forward to the year ahead with great excitement. Alcester is a fantastic town with a brilliant community spirit and I am looking forward to representing the council at events in Alcester and the surrounding towns over the next 12 months.”

She added: “I have chosen two charities for my mayoral year, Alcester and District Community First Responders, who are a team of volunteers who respond to emergency 999 calls providing initial care and treatment whilst waiting for emergency services to arrive, and the second is Ekica a charity that I am a trustee of and was set up formally as a children’s orphanage in Tanzania, which provided day care and pre-school education and is now registered as a pre and primary school for the most disadvantaged local children.”

“I am very much looking forward to working with Kathryn, the deputy mayor, and all my fellow councillors over the coming year.”

Gill was elected at the annual meeting of Alcester Town Council earlier this month.
