NOSTALGIC Halesowen based Hurst Green Primary School will be turning back the clock over the next seven weeks of term to mark their 50th anniversary.

To celebrate this milestone, both staff and pupils will be reflecting on what life was like in the 1960's.

They have already been getting into the swing of things by dressing in 1960s style school clothes, chanting their times tables and carrying out dictation with absolutely no technology allowed.

School dinners haven't escaped a throw-back in time either with spam and pink custard back on the menu.

Each week of term will have a different focus from history to geography, art to music and DT to PE.

There will also be special activities relating to the moon landing in 1969, pop art, Woodstock,1960s recipes and music of the era.

Special celebration days will include Thursday June 13 - a traditional sports day, Monday June 17 - anniversary assembly where ex-teachers and pupils are invited to visit , Thursday June 20 - an exhibition in the sports hall to display work that pupils have produced and Friday June 21 will stage a 1960's Big Bash which comprises of a party with everyone in 1960's fancy dress.

There will be party games and a big picnic on the field with 1960's music and dancing taking place.

The school have even created their own T-Shirts to commemorate the occasion.
