A KIDDERMINSTER dog charity manager with terminal cancer has launched a fundraiser to help make her final wishes come true.

Julie Gawne, aged 42, of Woodbury Road, who works for Happy Staffie Rescue, wants to learn to ride a motorbike, and to own one for herself, after being diagnosed with breast cancer nearly two years ago.

Halfway through her chemotherapy, Julie was told the devastating news that the aggressive cancer, known as metastasis, had travelled around her body and attached to her bones.

Now, Julie wants to make the most of her time, supporting the dog charity she has loved for years, and by making her finals dreams a reality.

She said: "Doctors cannot offer me curative treatment so they can only keep me comfortable for as long as they can, as it is quite aggressive.

"It was suggested that I think about things I really want to do while I still can.

"My main wish is to learn to ride and own my own motorbike, and this is something I have wanted for some time.

"The other thing I would like is to have my garden done to make it easier for me to care for and somewhere nice for me to go.

"I have been struggling to make these things happen and could really do with a helping hand.

"I want to do as much for Happy Staffie while I can. It keeps me motivated and the charity is very close to me."

Julie started to have motorbike riding lessons and was aiming to complete her basic training.

But, she had to stop following a riding accident that happened shortly before she was diagnosed with cancer.

Julie wanted to ride alongside other Happy Staffie supporters in the charity's Ride For Rescue event.

A Go Fund Me page has been started to raise funds for Julie, and she is close to reaching her goal of £1,000.

Julie added: "I did not expect anyone to take any real notice to it. The level of support has been a huge shock.

"I'm very open about what I'm going through and that has been helpful.

"I honestly don't know how long I have, it could be anywhere between a year or up to ten years, we just don't know.

"I don't normally ask for help, but considering the circumstances, I know I need it."
