KIND-hearted pupils and their parents at Glynne Primary School have collected hundreds of pairs of shoes to pass onto children in Gambia.

The thoughtful campaign was launched with Ridgewood High School in support of the Project Gambia appeal, which works to support educational opportunities for Gambian children and tackle poverty.

Parent Claudine Whalley-Billau was joined by volunteers who collected 312 pairs of shoes from children and parents on Friday July 19 after a call from headteacher Miss Powell calling on everyone to back the campaign.

The collection took place on the last day of term and marked the school year closing on a high.

Claudine paid tribute to the 'fab moms' who helped collect and pack the hundreds of shoes.

The shoes will be boxed, passed on to Ridgewood High School and then shipped to Gambia early next year where they will be distributed to youngsters.
