A FUNDRAISING page set up in memory of a young mum killed in a crash has raised almost £6,000.

Nicola Johnson, aged 30, died in a collision on the A422 Alcester Road near Inkberrow on August 2.

Following the tragic incident, a group of mums that had become friends with Nicola decided to set up the GoFundMe page in her memory and to support partner Jamie Mackie and their two daughters.

Both girls are under five, with the eldest about to start secondary school.

Campaign organiser and close friend Sarah Houghton said: "My heart is breaking thinking of her daughter starting school in two weeks without her mommy there for her first day. One of the last conversations I’d had with Nicola was about how emotional the first day at school is."

She added: "I’m really pleased the fundraiser has been successful and I’m hoping that Jamie and her family get some comfort from the support they’ve received from the community.

"Local pubs, shops, and garages, have all been holding fundraisers and collections and her old employer have done the same."

Speaking previously, Nicola's partner Jamie said: "I'm really overwhelmed by all this all me and my girls can say is thank you so so much for all the kindness."

The GoFundMe page has now exceeded its initial goal of £5,000 and some money has already been passed on to Jamie.
