THERE’S a festive treat in store for visitors to St Stephen’s Church in the town centre as it plans to host a Christmas tree festival.

There will be 27 trees for people to enjoy, all of which have been individually decorated by local businesses, charities, community groups, and churches.

Visitors will have the opportunity to choose their favourite tree, by donating money to the good cause of the tree that catches their eye.

As well as the dazzling display of trees there will also be an interactive Christmas experience.

The festival opens on Saturday, November 23 to coincide with the switch on of the town centre’s Christmas lights and it will be open daily from 10am to 4pm until Christmas Eve.

Entry is free.

Elaine Whitfield, church warden, said: “We’re excited to be hosting the Christmas tree festival. It promises to be a pure visual, spiritual and sensory delight, a great way to support good causes and a fantastic start to the festive season."
