A HAGLEY estate agent hopes to prick the conscience of vandals who wrecked the lights on his firm's Christmas tree by sharing video footage of the incident on social media.

CCTV footage of three young men - two of whom were pictured pulling the lights off the tree outside Walton and Hipkiss in Worcester Road - has been viewed by thousands on Facebook and estate agent boss Andrew Hipkiss hopes those responsible might feel a pang of guilt and be prompted to apologise for the incident which happened over the weekend.

Mr Hipkiss said he has not reported the matter to the police and he has already replaced the damaged lights but he hopes the culprits may do the decent thing and get in touch on 01562 886688 to make amends.

He said: "I want to give the individuals the opportunity to come forward - if they don't I might think about what I might want to do."

Mr Hipkiss, a volunteer with the Wyre Forest branch of search and rescue organisation SARA (Severn Area Rescue Association), said he has been overwhelmed by the messages of support he has received and offers by people to buy new lights.

Despite the incident, he is now looking forward to Hagley's official Christmas lights switch on event which is set to take place this Saturday (December 7). Worcester Road will be closed to traffic from 4.30pm to enable Santa and his sleigh to tour the village streets safely.

There will be a host of festive fun and entertainment laid on and money raised will go to SARA and various other good causes.
