A 53-YEAR-OLD man from Kidderminster has been fined for beating up a woman.

Ret Keelan, of Chestnut Grove, admitted assault by beating when he appeared before Kidderminster Magistrates' Court on Friday (January 10), after previously pleading not guilty to the charge.

The assault took place in Kidderminster on November 8 last year.

Keelan was fined £112 and ordered to pay £50 in compensation plus £32 to fund victim services and £300 in court costs.

In a separate case, a Kidderminster man was fined £315 for breaching a restraining order.

David Doyle, aged 31, of Baxter Avenue, pleaded guilty to contacting his ex-partner on dates between May 1 and November 20 last year, which he was prohibited from doing by an order made on April 23.

Magistrates fined him £315 and ordered him to pay a £31 victim surcharge plus £135 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

The restraining order was extended "to protect the victim from further threats or harassment from her former partner".

In a case at Kidderminster Magistrates' Court on Saturday (January 11), a Kidderminster man was ordered to undergo rehabilitation activity after admitting an assault.

Craig Wright, of Broadwaters Drive, pleaded guilty to assaulting a man in Worcester on December 4 last year.

Magistrates made a community order, requiring the 35-year-old to attend rehabilitation appointments for up to 20 days.

He must also pay compensation of £50 plus a £90 victim surcharge and £85 in court costs.
