A HUGE clean up of Netherton Reservoir is set to take place this weekend thanks to the hard work of volunteers.

Volunteers from wildlife group Razza Rats have joined forces with the Saltwells Clean and Green Group, the Save Saltwells Group and Dudley Watersport Centre to tidy up the beauty spot on Sunday, January 19.

Paul Billingham, a member of Razza Rats who work to celebrate the natural world in Dudley, said: "It needs doing, we spend a lot of time down there. We have cleaned up before but there is still a lot of rubbish around the outside."

The litter pick follows on from a team of volunteers taking time out of their Boxing Day to clean up the reservoir after the spot was blighted by flytipping.

Volunteers have now vowed to continue cleaning up the site off Highbridge Road as and when it is needed.

The litter picking supergroup plan to hold more events and will spread to other areas that have been affected by flytipping and littering.

The clean up takes place on Sunday, January 19 and anyone is welcome to attend.

To take part, meet at the reservoir car park at 10am.
