A DESSERT shop in Kidderminster is back up and running with a four star food hygiene rating following a revisit from inspectors.

Delicious Desserts, in New Road, received a zero out of five rating from Worcestershire Regulatory Services in January, but was reinspected last week after undergoing a refurbishment.

Wyre Forest District Council previously said the shop was in "very poor condition", with inspectors noting that improvement was necessary in the food handling, cleanliness and condition of facilities and building, and management of food safety categories.

But following an inspection on February 18, inspectors said hygienic food handling and cleanliness and condition of facilities and building was good, while management of food safety was found to be generally satisfactory.

Speaking after the revisit, Delicious Desserts manager Syed Ahmad said: "It's all done with the renovation and the full electrics have been rewired.

"We've had new appliances as the old ones weren't the best, and have had new paint to make it look nice again.

"We're happy to be up to a four star hygiene rating but we would love for the inspectors to come back as we're aiming for five out five.

"We have a couple of little things left to improve like bits of paperwork, but we're open again and we want everyone to come back and visit.

"If anyone has still got any doubt about the hygiene here, I would be more than happy to bring them through to the kitchen. They will see it's glistening."
