A FATHER and son who run one of Redditch’s most respected building companies are celebrating the firm’s 30th anniversary.

Ham Green-based J. Coote and Son, which undertakes a range of building and renovation projects for homeowners, is run by John Coote and his 24-year-old son, Jack.

John, 51, launched the business back in 1990, going on to train a number of successful building apprentices and becoming a master member of the respected Guild of Bricklayers.

Son Jack joined the family firm in 2012 and has since gone on to carve out a reputation as a sought-after builder and project manager.

Since launching 30 years ago the company has delivered more than 1,500 building projects, which includes building new homes and undertaking hundreds of extensions and home renovations.

The company has also installed indoor and outdoor swimming pools and handled a range of landscaping and groundworks projects.

John Coote said: “To reach such a big milestone in a tough industry is really brilliant for us.

“When I started the business 30 years ago, I wanted to become known for quality workmanship, attention to detail, and giving the best possible service to customers. Being around for so long I think shows we’ve achieved that.

“We’ve kept going through some really tough economic times but carved out a good reputation, working alongside some first-class contractors. That has always helped bring in a constant stream of amazing projects.

“With Jack in the business now it means one day it will pass onto the next generation and that makes me really proud, although I’ve still got plenty of time left and some great projects on the horizon."

He added: “The industry has changed a lot since 1990 – not only in terms of materials, trends and technology, but also in how we showcase our work to people through social media. As with so many things, it’s the small details which can make all the difference and we’re looking forward to marking the next decade.”
