A CORONER has recorded a verdict of natural causes following the death of a 90-year-old Dudley care home resident who died of COVID-19.

Marion Wood, a resident at Himley Manor in Himley Road, passed away on May 13 at the home having developed symptoms of coronavirus.

Area coroner for the Black Country, Joanne Lees, told Black Country Coroners Court this morning (Wednesday) that Mrs Wood, a widow who was suffering from end stage real failure, had become unwell and she was isolated from other residents at the care home.

But she added: "She sadly passed away at Himley Manor on May 13."

She said Mrs Wood died of COVID-19 and that vascular dementia, type two diabetes and hypertension had contributed to her death.

The coroner offered her "sincere condolences" to the family of Mrs Wood and she concluded she died of natural causes.
