A BUILDING site manager in Redditch says he is over the moon as he celebrates winning a national award.

Former bricklaying apprentice Kieron Wheeler won the National House Building Council (NHBC)'s Pride in the Job Quality Award, after being selected from more than 11,000 managers across the UK.

The 24-year-old - who works at Bovis Homes, now part of the newly-formed Vistry Group - is based at the housebuilder’s Millwood Meadows location, off Weights Lane, and achieved the accolade after 12 months of rigorous judging.

Kieron said: "I'm over the moon, I can't believe it. Thank you so much to my fantastic team, family, senior management and our subcontractors for all their hard work, efforts and support.

"I never thought this would be possible aged 24 but here I am a Pride in the Job Quality Award winner."

Pride in the Job, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary, marks the exceptional contribution site managers make in creating homes of outstanding quality.

These first round winners excelled and will now go on to compete for the Seal of Excellence Awards and Regional Winner titles.

Vistry had winners across the country including in London, Milton Keynes, Kettering, Crawley, Swindon, Whiteley, Seaton, Ringwood, Norfolk, Crewe, Staffordshire and York.

Greg Fitzgerald, chief executive of Vistry, said: "This is a fantastic achievement for these site managers and we are delighted and proud that they have achieved this prestigious accolade.

“This success is a testament to all their hard work in what have latterly been extremely challenging times for the industry and country.

"We look forward to celebrating their accomplishment, and that of their teams, as these Vistry stars now go forward to the next stage of recognition for their build quality achievements."
