A HALESOWEN man has been jailed for 18 weeks and banned from driving for five years after admitting an assault and failing to provide a breathalyser specimen to police.
Mark Hodgkiss, of Clement Road, pleaded guilty to committing an assault on Halesowen Street in Blackheath on June 27.
He also admitted failing to provide a specimen for police in Blackheath on the same day.
Appearing at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on June 29, the 56-year-old was jailed for ten weeks for the breathalyser offence and eight weeks for the assault, with both sentences to be served consecutively.
Magistrates also disqualified him from holding a driving licence for five years and 63 days and he was also ordered to pay a surcharge and costs totalling £263.
Also in magistrates court last week, a Dudley man was banned from getting behind the wheel for one year after admitting a string of driving offences.
Christopher Payne, of St John’s Road, pleaded guilty to driving a Honda Civic without a licence or insurance on Stourbridge Road on Christmas Eve.
Appearing at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on July 2, the 27-year-old also pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis.
He was disqualified from holding a driving licence for 12 months and was ordered to pay a fine, surcharge and costs totalling £617.
Also at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court, a woman was hit with a curfew and a 18 week suspended sentence after stealing meat in Sedgley.
Danielle Turford, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to stealing meat in Sedgley, worth £110.20, when she appeared before magistrates on July 2.
The 36-year-old was given a six-week jail term, suspended for 18 months, to run consecutively with a previous 12 week suspended sentence.
She was also ordered to follow a curfew for four weeks and must pay £100 in compensation.
