BARCLAYS will reopen its Halesowen branch later this month.

Rumours had been circulating that the branch on Queensway would not open after it closed back in March due to the Coronavirus lockdown.

But Barclays confirmed today that it will re-open next Thursday (July 23) - but only for two days a week and with reduced hours.

A Barclays spokesman said: “Our Halesowen branch will be re-opening on Thursday July 23.

"The opening hours will be Thursday and Friday from 9am to 2pm, with the counter opening at 9.30am."

Barclays has 1,600 banks in the UK - is said it has already reopened 88 per cent of its branches.

The spokesman said: "We’re working hard to keep as many branches open as possible but in a number of cases, we have had to reduce the opening hours for operational reasons.

"We have redeployed branch colleagues to where they are needed most and a number of our branch colleagues are instead making calls to our most vulnerable customers to offer financial assistance, as well as answering incoming calls.

"We will continue to review the opening hours of our branches including how customers are using them.

"Customers can continue to access their banking 24/7 using online banking, telephone banking or the Barclays App.

"The latest updates on financial support relating to coronavirus can be found on our website."
