A MAN stood on a Brierley Hill balcony with a machete came down to safety after hours of police negotiations.
Officers and police negotiators were called to a block of flats on Hill Street as a man was standing on the wrong side of balcony railings on Saturday afternoon (August 1).
The man safely came down from the balcony after several hours and was taken to hospital.
Paramedics and fire crews were also at the scene and Hill Street was closed throughout the afternoon.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said last night: "A man has safely come down from a balcony after officers were called to Hill Street, Brierley Hill at 1pm."
"We have assisted ambulance colleagues to take him to hospital to be checked over and the road has since re-opened."
Police have since confirmed that a 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of public nuisance.
He remains in police custody today (August 2).
Meanwhile neighbourhood officers will be patrolling the area today to offer reassurance to local residents.
