DESPITE the wet weather and the waterlogged ground Pebworth in Bloom volunteers are continuing their work as UK finalists in the RHS In Bloom campaign.
Just before Christmas a red sentinel crab tree was planted by Clive Warren (parish tree warden), Jamie Warren, Ken Wood, Yvonne Rose (chair of Pebworth in Bloom) , Kevin McLeish and Barney the dog ! And later this month when the ground dries, specially selected fruit trees will be planted in the heritage orchard.
Pebworth has been chosen to represent the Heart of England in the village category for the second time and this year will be up against 8 other villages from all over the UK. Finalists are assessed on horticultural, community and environmental efforts – 100s of spring bulbs have been planted after a very successful bulb sale earlier this month and the annual conservation talk in February when a representative from Worcs Wildlife Trust will talk about the trust’s work in the county is guaranteed to be successful as there is a cream tea on offer.
