HEREFORD'S Portuguese community will be showing the best of the Iberian nation's food and music at a special St Martin's Day party next month.

The celebrations – in certain parts of the world – have focused on the late Autumnal harvest while the Portuguese's São Martinho festivities commemorate the year’s wine production.

So freshly harvested chestnuts will be roasted to help wash down the first 'vinhos' of the season when the party is held on November 10 at St Martin's Church community hall off Ross Road.

Other delicacies such as Francesinha and Caldo Verde will also be served while karaoke will provide the musical entertainment.

All sections of the community are invited to the event which will run from 3pm to 10pm.
