HEREFORD'S university project have named their first Honorary Professor.

Trustees at the New Model in Technology and Engineering announced that Royal Academy of Engineering Fellow, Professor Peter Goodhew has been awarded the title of Honorary Professor for his considerable contributions to engineering education and the development of NMiTE's curriculum.

Professor Goodhew said: "This is the most exciting project I have been involved with in my 55 years as an engineer. Very rarely is a new university established from nothing, essentially starting from a blank sheet of paper.

"NMiTE is going to break the engineering higher education mould in half a dozen ways."

University Chief Executive, Professor Elena Rodriguez-Falcon said: "Peter has provided crucial ongoing support to the academic team and NMiTE as a whole over the past four years offering his expertise in the learning and teaching of engineering and through his role as a leading member of our curriculum panel."
