TRAIN enthusiasts turned out on Saturday to see an iconic steam engine pass through the county on Saturday.
70000 Britannia was hauling the Welsh Marches Express from Crewe to Cardiff before returning. Onlookers were able to catch a glimpse of the train from stations at Hereford and Leominster.
The locomotive was built in 1951 and was initially based at Stratford to work East Anglian expresses to Norwich and Great Yarmouth.
Only 15 years later, Britannia was withdrawn from service.
The wreath on the front of the engine was in memory of Tony Kay, a colleague of tour operator Saphos Trains.
James Rippard of the Hereford Times Camera Club was on hand to capture the pictures.
