Police held a suspect after he was found with a knife at Hereford train station.
Officers from West Mercia tackled the incident yesterday (Tuesday) with their colleagues in the British Transport Police.
The police Safer Neighbourhood Teams at South Wye, Hereford, said they had acted "robustly".
The West Mercia force is currently running a week-long knife amnesty.
