A NEWCOMER to Hereford's high street has been stirring things up as NIZI Bakery scooped an award for its gluten free loaf.

The artisan bakers on St Owen Street, which opened in March, entered its loaf into the Tiptree World Bread Awards with the ceremony held at St John's Church in Hyde Park, London on October 15.

Owner of the bakery David Nizi had developed the recipe after numerous requests from customers.

He said: "I'm absolutely thrilled with this result. This is a special loaf for me as it took a long time to develop and is a response to so many requests from customers.

"I feel this is a team effort as I received so much valuable feedback from customers while I was trialling different versions of the recipe.

"I was really keen to create a gluten free load that makes the most of natural ingredients like buckwheat and chia seeds.

"With everyone's support and feedback we finally nailed the recipe, so this award is for all of my customers."
