A CRASH on a major city route has caused serious traffic delays for commuters this morning.

Huge tailbacks built up along the A49 and A465 after two cars crashed on Greyfriars Bridge during the morning rush hour.

Motorists reported delays of up to one hour as they attempted to travel from south to north Hereford, while the Old Bridge remains closed following concerns for the safety of the structure.

An ambulance service spokesperson said paramedics were called to the scene of the low speed rear end crash at 8.33 this morning.

A woman in her twenties was assessed at the scene before being taken to Hereford County Hospital as a precautionary measure.

Her injuries are not believed to be serious.
