A MAN appeared before magistrates after he was found by police in possession of one cling-film wrap of heroin.

Joshua Duncan Amadeus Juson, 28, of Pomona Place, Hereford, admitted possessing the Class A drug when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford.

Nicola Ritchie, prosecuting, said police in Hereford had stepped up patrols in Hereford's Barton Road area after receiving intelligence that there was drug dealing taking place near Sainsbury's.

Officers were on patrol near the store on September 18 when they saw Juson and a woman walking to a cash point.

They stopped the pair, and Juson was detained after officers discovered he was carrying one cling-film wrap of heroin.

In interview, Juson said he uses heroin every couple of days and had paid £50 for the one gram wrap that morning.

Emma Thorne, for Juson, said he had been addicted to the drug for some years.

"He has a prescription for methadone, but admits he still uses the drug sometimes," Mrs Thorne said.

"He went out to score and bought one gram before going to Sainsbury's with his girlfriend."

The court heard Juson had been made subject to a visitor ban at his accommodation following his arrest.

A report carried out by the probation service said Juson did not feel like it was the right time to tackle his addiction, and that he is already engaging with the support he currently has.

"We have to say taking drugs is against the law. You know that," chair of the bench Sarah de Rohan told Juson.

"You need to work out what you want to do with your life. You have got to get your head around this and sort yourself out."

Juson was given a 12-month conditional discharge. He must pay costs of £185 and a £21 victim surcharge.
