YOUNG farmers are celebrating 70 years of their annual hedging match this month.

On January 26, more than 20 members of young farmers clubs in Herefordshire between the ages of 10 and 26 will battle it out to see who can produce the best overall hedge.

The competitors have been entered into different classes of aided and unaided abilities with everyone able to take part.

The annual competition sees members from across Herefordshire come together to compete showing off their skills in a valuable rural craft.

The hedging competition is a great example of the type of skills which can be learnt from being a member of YFC.

Competing for the top spot this year will be Craswall YFC.

The hedging match will be held at Tyn-y-Berth, Clodock, by kind permission of the Watkins family, starting at 9.30am.
