A CLUBGOER was caught with a bag of cocaine (coke) as he tried to get into a Hereford nightspot, a court has heard.

Bobby Junior Morris, 21, of Prior Street, Hereford, admitted possessing the class A drug and breaching the terms of a suspended sentence when he appeared before magistrates on January 29.

The court heard Morris had been caught with a bag containing 0.41 grams of the drug when he was searched by door staff at The Venue night club in Hereford on May 4 last year.

“He was in possession of a white powder, which was found as he tried to get into the night club,” prosecutor Shafquat Reaz told the court.

“When tested, it was positive for cocaine. This put him in breach of an 18-month suspended sentence imposed in November 2017.”

Marilena Di Vitantonio, for Morris, said somebody had given the bag of cocaine to him earlier that evening, and that he had forgotten all about it.

“He was searched as he tried to get into the club and they found the drugs,” Miss Di Vitantonio said.

“This did place him in breach of his suspended sentence, but this was imposed in 2017, and he has not appeared before the court since.

“He is in a different place now, and is in full-time employment.”

Morris was fined a total of £133. He must also pay costs of £185 and a £32 victim surcharge.
