DANIEL Crowther, head at Ludlow-based accountancy firm, Thorne Widgery, is celebrating after being presented with a prestigious national industry award.

He was named Practice Pioneer of the Year at the Accounting Excellence Awards, which took place at a glittering ceremony in the City of London hosted by comedian, Catherine Ryan.

The award celebrates his work within the firm and his drive to continuously improve accountancy services for clients.

Mr Crowther has played an instrumental role in the launch of the firm’s Ludlow office and in the firm’s adoption of new technologies, including the effective use of new media to attract clients.

The judging process for the award saw Mr Crowther nominated by one of his colleagues at Thorne Widgery, who made a detailed written submission to the panel of independent judges setting out his achievements.

“I am honoured to have received this award, especially as it was judged by a panel of leading independent experts from across the industry,” said Mr Crowther.

“Of course, this achievement would not be possible without the hard work and commitment of our team.

“We are committed to making a difference for each of our clients by providing a range of industry-leading services supported by the latest technology.”

Thorne Widgery is no stranger to awards success, having won a British Accounting Marketing Award earlier this year and the Small Practice Innovation of the Year award at the British Accountancy Awards in 2018.

The firm that also has an office in Hereford is also in contention for the Independent Firm of the Year, Wales and Midlands category at the British Accountancy Awards 2019, the winners of which will be announced later.
