BIN collection dates over the Christmas period in Worcester have been confirmed by the city council.

Collections will run two days later than usual during Christmas week and one day later than normal in New Year week.

City Council said staff would be working on Saturdays and Mondays to make sure bins are emptied.

Residents must place their bins out by 7am on collection day.

From Christmas day until New Year’s Eve, collections will be two days later than usual and from January 1 until January 5, collections will be one day later than usual.

This means that the scheduled collection for Christmas Day will now be on December 27 and the scheduled collection for Boxing Day will now be on December 28.

Collections will be two days later than usual from Christmas Day until New Year’s day.

The New Year’s Day collection will now happen on January 2 and all other collections will be one day later than originally scheduled after that date until normal service resumes on January 7.

The council has also reminded residents that large cardboard boxes, Christmas cards (except glitter ones) and wrapping paper (excluding foil or glittery paper) can all go in the green bin but tin foil and tinsel needs to go in the black bin.

For household collections, normal service will resume on Tuesday January 8.

There will be no bulky household collections on Wednesday December 26 or in the week of December 31. The normal collection service for bulky household items will resume on Monday, January 7. Bulky waste collections can be booked at www.worcester.gov.uk/bulky-household-waste.

There will also be changes to the city council’s commercial waste service. The days for recycling collections are unchanged, but the collections of general waste are as follows: Christmas Day’s collection will be on December 27, Boxing day’s will be on December 28 and New Year’s Day’s collection will be on January 2.
