AN author has published her first novel after being inspired by a local National Trust home.
Evesham author Mi Ackland has published The Sea Above Me the Sky Below.
She said: “Twenty years ago I visited National Trust property Lower Brockhampton, near Worcester, and it enchanted me.
“Characters instantly began to form in my mind, but I was interested in the techniques of constructing ghost stories at the time and mostly working abroad, which got in the way of writing longer stories.
“Hence this has been a long time in the development!”
Mi has previously sold ghost stories to High Street magazines, but her latest work is an historical work with romance and action.
Lower Brockhampton House is the inspiration for Honeywells in the novel.
However, the author has transferred the location to Aston Subedge and Chipping Campden, in the Cotswolds, before the main character, James Mace, sets off to try his luck on a sugar plantation in Jamaica.
“It’s had a lot of downloads and I hope local people may enjoy it,” Mi said.
The Sea Above Me the Sky Below can be downloaded free from Smashwords and online retailers.
