We were delighted to launch our Energy Strategy for Worcestershire at the Business, Energy and Innovation Conference earlier this week.

Our strategy outlines an ambitious Energy vision to create a thriving low-carbon economy across Worcestershire by 2030. By helping to create a low-carbon economy, we are able to find new, environmentally-friendly ways for businesses to save money and become more energy-efficient.

Importantly, our strategy outlines ambitions to support the creation of high value jobs, and stimulate investment and clean growth across Worcestershire. We’ve set ambitious targets for the county, including reducing carbon emissions by 50% (against 2005 levels), doubling the value of the low carbon economy and tripling the level of renewable energy generation in Worcestershire.

It was great to see such a large attendance at the Business, Energy and Innovation Conference. With 200 businesses present, it’s clear that there is an appetite to learn more about the latest opportunities and funding support available for businesses.

We have also been working together with other Local Enterprise Partnerships who specialise in cyber business to publish a new ‘Science and Innovation Audit’. The audit will enable Worcestershire and other regions to grow their export opportunities around the world.

The audit will also help to enhance both industry and research within the Cyber Valley region.

The audit also recognises the region’s ability to tap into sustained investment in aligned technology, including increased investment and adoption of innovative technologies in the region including our 5G testbed.

It’s important that we now highlight these strengths to investors around the world, with the confidence of attracting even more interest. For more information on the Audit, and to view the document online, visit our website wlep.co.uk
