PLANS for a derelict former nightclub into student accommodation are 'exciting' according to a director from one of the developers.

Alex Grove, the director of Thorneloe Development, the firm behind the plans for the former Images nightclub, opposite The Hive, said there had been good feedback from a consultation event held in February. Under the scheme the former club in The Butts would be demolished and replaced by a seven-storey student housing block.

The former Worcester Warriors players said: "I have lived in the city for 10 years, and always wanted to work on a scheme like this. I wanted to give back to the city. People told us they wanted to see something happen there, instead of what is there. We don't have a name yet and are still working on the application - dotting the i's and crossing the t's."

The building has been derelict since Funk nightclub closed down in February 2012.
