Today's picture from the archive of the Worcester News dates from 1996 and shows John Westwood of English Heritage at Witley Court, one of the historic buildings of Worcestershire that he was responsible for. Incredible to relate, as recently as 1968, it was proposed to demolish the gutted mansion, crush up its stone and use it for making roads in the-them new town of Redditch.
