RUNNERS took part in the annual Worcester Marathon on Sunday for charity.
The race, which could be completed as either a marathon or half marathon, was organised by Tempo Events and spoonsored by Hewett Recruitment, all to raise money for St Richards Hospice in Worcester.
Both distances started at 9:30 on Sunday, May 19 in Offerton Lane near the Worcester Warriors ground.
The Full Marathon was comprised of two laps of the loop around the nearby lanes lanes.
The half marathon runners accompanied those running the full marathon for the first lap before splitting away at 11 miles and heading back to where both races finished in front of the rugby ground.
All finishers received a medal and T-shirt, as well as a banana and a bottle of water at the end of the race.
Some of the entry fees paid by runners to take part in the marathon went towards St Richards but many runners went the extra mile by running in honour of their chosen charities, with runners representing the MS Trust and Pancreatic Cancer UK among others.
The race returned for its eighth year, with the winners of the half marathon coming in just after midday.
