PREPARATIONS are well under way for Malvern Pride, with businesses and public services lining up to sponsor the event in Priory Park next weekend.

Among the business sponsors are QinetiQ, the town’s largest employer, while Malvern Town Council has paid for three banners in the town centre promoting the event.

Malvern Pride, on Saturday, July 27 has a line-up which includes local performers such as Ya Ya Logic, drag queen Princx and life coach social media celebrity Char Bailey.

Malvern Pride has been organised by a group of locals to celebrate the LGBT+ community in and around Malvern.

Running between noon and 5pm in Priory Park, the aim of the event is to promote inclusivity and equality.

There will be a range of stalls from food trucks to local businesses, with plenty for the kids too, from face painting and glitter, to hair accessories and an onsite playground.

Among those who are supporting the event are members of the Fire Brigades Union, who have supplied the organising team with colourful union Pride t-shirts and flags, and also helped by providing meeting rooms and other assistance.

Betty Rose, one of the organisers, said: “We’re really grateful to all our supporters, including the town council and the fire fighters, who are making the whole thing possible.”
