WOMEN who are keen to get involved with cricket are being invited to a free soft ball tournament this weekend.

Sunday, August 4 will see the second Women’s Soft Ball Cricket MEGA Fest tournament.

The tournament, hosted at Blackfinch New Road, is targeted at women over the age of 14 who have had little or no experience of cricket.

Players can take part as individuals or get together to form teams of between six and eight players.

The MEGA Fest is free to enter with all equipment provided as well as a glass of Prosecco during the presentation.

Entry also includes a ticket for each participant to the Worcestershire Rapids vs Leicestershire Foxes T20 match being held at the ground on the day of the festival.

The women’s soft ball cricket is part of a range of initiatives from Worcestershire Cricket designed to bring the game to communities that would otherwise not get the chance to play the game.

Other initiatives include the Wicketz programme, which takes cricket into deprived communities and helps educate young people and keep them out of trouble.
