THE strangely-named King Pleasure & The Biscuit Boys are in tour again, with or without digestives, but certainly with a toe-tapping set.

He's the ebullient King Pleasure, on sax and vocals, and his band have been hailed as the UK's absolute kings of swing; and the good news is for fans, they have a November date at Worcester’s Huntingdon Hall.

And no-one will be disappointed if they don’t break out the custard creams. In fact, they probably won't, because the music is the absolute attraction

A spokesman said: “With more than 6,500 performances in 21 countries under their belt in their 30 years on the road, are more than just the world’s greatest jump, jive and swing band – they’re an institution!

“In that time they have opened shows for B.B. King, Cab Calloway and His Orchestra, Ray Charles, and toured with the real Blues Brothers Band - the one from the movie.”

The spokesman added:”Rough, tough and always rocking, King Pleasure & The Biscuit Boys have appeared at festivals, in concert and at clubs throughout the UK and Europe – and they still play the Birmingham Jazz & Blues Festival, where they have headlined for an unprecedented 14 years.

“They have managed to record 11 albums for Big Bear Records along the way, all of which have been distributed worldwide. They are considered to be the finest, most authentic rhythm & blues band ever to come from outside the USA.”

Over the years the individual members may have changed but the band stays the same. The King himself .They’re the genuine article, in full working order.

But what else can an audience expect?

The spokesman said: “Dazzling musicianship, riveting stage performances, more than 73 television appearances (including, somewhat bizarrely, five episodes of Teletubbies) and 75 radio broadcasts have established King Pleasure & The Biscuit Boys as the undisputed ‘Kings of Swing’.”

So now we know.

The date for the diary is November 28, from 7.30pm.
