THERE are concerns over water supply in a town as pipes regularly burst and are only repaired, not replaced, by Welsh Water.
Residents in Bromyard say the pipes need to be replaced to ensure a reliable water supply to the town.
The calls come as a major project in Hereford comes to an end, with £8.5 million spent on installing a new section of water pipe between Bewdley Bank service reservoir and the city.
Julia Hawkes-Moore, who has lived in Bromyard for 50 years, said: “The fresh water supply in the town is a serious mess. Welsh Water have recently laid new pipes in Hereford, but the pipes in Bromyard are dreadful. The pipes were rapidly repaired, but not replaced.”
Recently a water main burst at the junction of the A44 Bromyard Bypass and New Road. Welsh Water said it was working to fix a leak, but engineers found a second while they were working.
