The young actors in The Festival Players are busy rehearsing for a free performance of Dick Whittington And His Cat next month.

The young actors are rehearsing Dick Whittington for the special ‘concert’ performance on the day after the general election.

Eric Jones, Players director, said: "The one-hour special, with beautiful costumes, some music, plenty of ‘wicked’ characters and some scenery and songs. But it is not a long, complex production, with orchestra or dancing chorus.

"There are plenty of comedy characters, and this is probably the perfect ‘first visit’  to a theatre performance for mums and dads with young children.

"And it’s free! Oh, yes it is!"

The show takes place on Friday, December 13, at the Town Hall, Evesham, at 6.30pm.

Tickets are available from The Almonry or by calling Eric Jones on 01386 48788.

This performance has been specially written – and shortened – to be performed the previous day for the residents of Bricklehampton Care Home, where Rob Brown (playing Dame Sarah) is a care manager.

Rob asked if The Festival Players could provide an entertainment for the residents and the group decided it would be a pity to prepare and rehearse it and then only do one performance.hence the idea of a free show the next evening.

Next summer the Players will be performing Agatha Christie’s Spider’s Web, another murder mystery, also at Broadway, Bidford, The Arts Centre and at Number 8  Pershore, all in July 2020.
