AN elderly man has been left upset after a fraudster claiming to be from Amazon attempted to defraud him.

Following on from yesterday’s Worcester News, around £25,000 was stolen in a day from Worcestershire residents after they received telephone calls from fraudsters claiming to be from Amazon.

The scam appears to have calmed down and no one has been successfully defrauded since.

However, a vulnerable man who is very poorly in North Worcestershire was contacted this morning (July 1) by a woman purporting to be from Amazon.

No money was taken or details exchanged but the incident has left him very upset.

The scam involves a fraudsters stating that the recipient is eligible for an Amazon refund.

The victim then follows a series of instructions from the criminal caller who then gains access to their bank details and removes their funds.

Police are warning people who have been receiving these calls that this is a scam.

If you have received such a call and have provided personal details, which has led to funds being removed, it is advised that you contact your bank immediately and contact police on 101.
