A TALENTED city teenager had the nation in tears during her appearance on a talent show on Saturday night.

Before her performance on ITV's The Voice Kids, Lydia Beech said on the show: "I'm Lydia, I'm 13-years-old and I come from Worcester.

"I was born with a genetic condition affecting my eyes, which means that I am blind."

She added her mum Hannah helped her to be independent, and "as strong as she can be".

Her mum added: "We were told that there were two ways of dealing with it, you wrap her in cotton wool, or you prepare her to do anything."

The audience and judges all gave her a a standing ovation after her amazing performance of Your Song, based on Ellie Goulding's cover of the Elton John classic.

Paloma Faith and Pixie Lott turned their chairs to pick her, with Paloma asking how long she had been singing for.

"I was five and I was singing in the car with my grandpa and he said I had a really nice voice so I started singing," she replied.

Paloma added it had been "magical", and said Lydia had "sounded beautiful".

After being asked what her dream was, Lydia answered music therapy, which Will.i.am said made him like her even more.

Lydia then revealed she will be choosing Pixie to be her coach in the next round.

After the show her former school, Claines Primary, tweeted: "You’re amazing Lydia - everyone is so proud of you."
