BARNT Green runner Becky Straw maintained her excellent record this year with a strong display at the IAAF International Cross-Country in Spain.
The 17-year-old finished second in the under-20s category behind team-mate Jenny Walsh, who was World Championship 1,500-metre finallist in July.
Representing the England team, the duo dominated a strong field which saw Spain’s junior champion Claudia Estafez come third and England’s Laura Riches complete the course in fourth.
The home trio will now look forward to the Great Britain trials in Liverpool on Saturday, November 24 for the European Cross Country-Championships.
Straw has enjoyed a fine 2012, winning the under-17s category at the English Championships in February.
She also captained England to team gold at the World School Championships in Malta.
But her crowning achievment was taking gold at the National Schools Champions in July in the 1,500m.
