HEAD coach Ross Baxter is hoping Bromsgrove can build on their encouraging performances against Otley in their first match of the season in the National North Two (3pm ko).
They make the trip north for a testing start against a side which finished fourth last season.
Bromsgrove go into the new season with Phil Norris as captain and a remit to try and focus on improving their youngers players.
Baxter said: “Otley were one of the best sides in the division last season but our games against them were both quite close.
“We lost up there thanks to some late tries and drew with them at home so we aren’t that far away.”
Bromsgrove are also hoping injured players such as Alex Woodward, Ben Meadows, Phil Horton, Chris McGregor and Tak Osaki are all on the road to recovery.
They ended pre-season with a 29-12 home loss to newly-promoted Old Halesonians.
